Casting On Methods



Now that you have your slip knot stitch on your needle, we need to add more stitches.

The easiest method for a beginner is the knit cast on method (also known as the Chain Cast On method)


Casting On : Chain Method




Casting On : Cable Method


This video shows you how to cast on using the Cable Cast On technique.
It’s easy to make your stitches quite tight with this method, so remember to keep your yarn fairly loose as you pull it up to the needle.



Casting On : Long Tail Thumb Method


You might find it takes a few attempts to master this method, but as you practise and improve, you’ll see just how quickly you cast on stitches and  it will soon become your favourite way to cast on.



In this video,  I show you a quick tip on how to measure where to create your first slip-knot to start.  Just remember to allow enough yarn to weave in at the end of your project.



Casting On : Very Basic Method (If You’re Struggling To Get Started)


This is a very basic way to cast on stitches to a needle, so if you’re struggling with any of the other cast-on methods I’ve shown you, try this.



Once you know how to cast on stitches on to your needles, you're ready to learn how to work knit and purl stitches.
